ACTIVITY SHORT DESCRIPTION:
On our class trip to Prague, we went on a street art tour of the city followed by a workshop in which we created our own “street art”. Rather than using walls, however, this beginner’s attempt was on a canvas, which was brilliant because I could then take it back home with me. We did use actual stencils and spray paint, though, so we used the technique, not the surface for graffiti!
PREDICTED LENGTH OF ACTIVITY
One morning, 26th of March, 2017.
CAS ELEMENTS INVOLVED
PERSONAL GOALS FOR THE ACTIVITY:
Going into this activity, I do not know for sure what to expect. I love creating art, but a "street art" technique is new for me. It is exciting! My goal is to create something that looks good and that I will be happy to take home to show my family.

- CREATIVITY
PERSONAL GOALS FOR THE ACTIVITY:

ANTICIPATED LEARNING OUTCOMES:
- Learning outcome #1): Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
- I am a visual arts student and love creating art using a variety of techniques. I know I do have strengths in this area. However, I had never before used stencils with spray paint, so this will be a challenge but by the end of the activity hopefully a new skill!
REFLECTIONS:
As I mentioned earlier, I had never tried this “street art” technique before, so it was really fun to try! We were given different print outs which we could then cut ourselves to create a stencil. This was challenging, as I chose Mr.Bean’s face (to give the finished work to my brother as a present who likes him) but I am good with scissors so it turned out quite well. The spray painting was the most fun part for me. I got to use my creativity trying out different layers of colour and spraying techniques that the artist taught us. Distance, strength and time of each spray changes the look completely, so it was fun to play with this. Overall, I think that it turned out quite cool, with bright colours within the cool tones, allowing the black face to stand out. It’s fun and I hope my brother likes it!
