ACTIVITY SHORT DESCRIPTION:
This summer, the finishing line for the Vuelta a Burgos was at the top of a mountain range near my village. The organisers needed volunteers for helping set up railings and helping director and organise the audience so the event runs smoothly with no accidents. All volunteers were taken up in a bus in the morning, and we didn't get back to our village til around 5 pm. On the way back, however, we decided to hike the 8 km down the mountain. PREDICTED LENGTH OF ACTIVITY One morning and part of the afternoon, from around 9 til 5. CAS ELEMENTS INVOLVED

PERSONAL GOAL FOR THE ACTIVITY:
This opportunity came to us quite suddenly, as one summer day a friend who is involved in the village's events told us that volunteers were needed to help in the cycling event. I went to the information/instruction talk not knowing quite what I was getting myself into. It was actually quite exciting to get to help out and be there where all the action was. My goals before going were thus to put in my helping hand.
On the actual day, we eventually decided we would hike back down, so i had the added goal of making it back to the village safe, sound and not sun-burnt!!!

ANTICIPATED LEARNING OUTCOMES:
- (Learning outcome #5): Demonstrate the skills and recognise the benefits of working collaboratively
- An event like this requires the help of as many hands as possible. By going there and collaborating, i will contribute to a successful and safe event.
REFLECTIONS:
Below I have added three slideshow galleries showing, firstly, our arrival and the breathtaking views from the top of the mountain. The second slideshow includes images of the setup of the route as well as the exciting arrival of the cyclists! Finally, the third is a gallery of the photos I took as we hiked back down the mountains to the village. I have written my reflections as a running commentary along the day (check the captions of each image!)
